Netbook Scanning Using Local Server

Equipment received:
  • Server Laptop
  • Power supply for Server Laptop (will need power)
  • Access Point (will need power)
  • Power Supply for Access Point
  • Ethernet cord (will connect from Access Point to Server Laptop)
  • Netbook
  • Power Supply for Netbook
  • Corded Scanner (needs to be connected via USB hub to Netbook)

Server Setup:
1. On the Server Laptop be sure you are connected to the Internet
2. Open the Validation Server Sync program 
3. Click Initial Download. Check to see if tickets match your actual sales (the Performance Summary Report will be a good way to match sales) 
4.  The final download needs to be done after online sales have been cutoff.  Use this article to adjust the sales schedule.

Day of Scanning
1. Turn Wireless OFF on the Server Laptop (Wireless Disabled & LAN Enabled)
2. Turn Access Point ON-make sure all lights are solid (needs power)
-Connect Ethernet cord from Access Point to Server Laptop (do not use internet port on router)
3. Open Tomcat Startup on Server Laptop desktop
4. Turn on Netbooks
5. Connect Scanning Netbooks to to the wireless network that is labeled on the router.
6. On the Scanning Netbook, open the Etix Laptop Validation icon
7. When it says Enter Serial Number, you are ready to begin scanning.
 
To be sure the equipment is "talking" to each other and properly setup:
type the number 1234567890 and click "Enter" on the Scanner Netbook.  The Netbook should say "INVALID" (screen turns red) and that same 1234567890 should have appeared in the Tomcat program on the Server Laptop.
